My front door camera gets a lot of action. Cars, kids, people walking in the street… causes the battery of my Eufycam 2C to die after about a week, most noticeable after hooking it up to Apple HomeKit stuffs. I found this as an option and it’s been working great; battery still runs low over night, but this little dude keeps it charging back up during the day. I was actually surprised when it was overcast, because while it wasn’t actively charging it, it did prevent the battery on the camera from going down. I also opted for the gutter mount to give it more of a straight shot to the sky/sun.

The solar panel works as expected but the issue I’m having with is that it doesn’t charge fast enough and it’s not efficient, at least for me. For the majority of the time, it seems to discharge faster than it can be recharged. It helps keeping the cameras up there for a bit longer as it is still charging it but the fact that it can’t charge fast enough was a pretty big blow, especially since I bought 2 of them. I really like that the they designed the microUSB so that water can’t easily seep into the camera’s ports and damage it. I guess it all depends on where you place the panels and your location but I placed it where it’s most sunny for the longest but in the end of the day, it’s just not good enough.
