  1. :

I bought a pair of 100ft 10 awg cables with mc4 on each end. I found imthem on amazon for like 60 bucks and haven’t seen them again since. I chopped them up and made several extension cables and connectors between the panel arrays. These crimpers worked fine and were super easy to use. The tightening tool seems to only work on the mc4 connectors that come with this package. The wrench end will not go over the fat end of other mc4 connectors and I’ve tried three types. No big deal, I just use a set of pliars on the fat (closest to the cable) end and use one of the blue mc4 crimp tools to twist down the connector to the cable end.

Wow.. Who’d have thought that these crimping tools are actually nothing special. They are standard connector pin crimpers just with present crimping distances or bite strengths built in explicitly for the amount of force/distance required for that style of crimp on MC3/MC4 connector pins. (You should always solder these connections no matter what! Don’t listen to them that say soldering not required. It is absolutely necessary to solder all crimp-type connections in general for the longevity, electrical and physical integrity and long-term durable reliability of these cables and their continued connections and future disconnections and reconnections. Anyone who says otherwise is lacking experience to know better in this regards.
